Benaulim beach is situated in south Goa on the shores of the Arabian Sea. The nearest airport to reach is at Dabolim. It lies 41 km away from Panaji, capital of the Indian state of Goa.



This beach is 2km from Colva beach. If you want to come to Benaulim Beach by train, the nearest railhead is at Karmali. The beach is well connected with other parts of the state by a network of roads and railways. Easy accessibility has made Benaulim beach one of the favorite tourist destinations.

Goa Benaulim beach is a very quiet beach. Benaulim beach in Goa starts where Colva beach ends. The best thing about Goa Benaulim beach is that it is still rather undiscovered by domestic tourists even though it is a famous beach for fishing. Benaulim beach gets fairly crowded in the evenings and on weekends. Local visitors often frequent this Benaulim beach; they get off their buses about a kilometer away and pour onto the beach.

Benaulim Beach is one of the fairly undiscovered beaches of Goa. Despite of its being a fishing beach, the domestic tourists are unaware of it. However, the beach gets crowded on certain occasions. Benaulim Beach of Goa gets crowded in the evenings, when the travelers come to the site for a walk. Far away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the beach enables the tourists to relax and rejuvenate their spirits. The beach also witnesses a huge crowd during the weekends.

one can see bull fighting at Benaulim Beach between the months of October to March. During this period, tourists can enjoy the thrill of bull fighting from 1600 hours onwards. Watching the bull fight at the beach adds delight to traveling in Goa. Besides, one can find a number of hotels at the beach, which help the tourists to find accommodation. Church of St John the Baptist
The Church of St John the Baptist which is situated on a hill beyond the village and is worth a visit. Feast of St John the Baptist (Sao Joao) is celebrated as a thanksgiving. Young men wearing crowns of leaves and fruits tour the area singing for gifts. To commemorate the movement of St John when he was in his mother's womb and visited by Mary, the mother of Jesus, the young men of this village jump into the wells. Colva beach is just 2km away from the Benaulim beach.

Where to stay & eat in Benaulim beach?
As far as staying here is concerned, there are plenty of hotels offering accommodation at cheap rates, but its always better to book in advance.

Longuinhos Beach Resort This old Colva favorite is about a kilometer from the crowded village, and right on the beach. Rooms are comfortable and reasonably priced, and the staff friendly and helpful. You can eat at A Tartaruga, the in-house restaurant, or take your pick from dozens of shack restaurants close by.

Star Beach Resort The chief advantages of this extremely ordinary four-story building are its proximity to the beach (a few minutes by foot) and its location – just off Colva’s main street. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable, which is more than can be said for many of Colva’s properties. None of the rooms face the sea.

At Benaulim beach you will find only few hotels for your accommodation but you can definitely rent a house if you are going to stay for long. The Colva beach, which is situated next to this beach, houses plenty of resorts and low-budget hotels.

Alegria This Goan specialty restaurant is reminiscent of an old-fashioned landlord’s drawing room, with sepia photographs on the walls and carved wooden furniture. The variety of menu items makes an excellent introduction to local cuisine. If you want to be adventurous with dessert, try the adsorachem merend, a feni-infused (with cashew or coconut-palm hooch) tender coconut mousse with saffron sauce. Live singing accompanied by guitar and mandolin adds to the scene.

Joecons The interior is spacious – but nothing special – at this Goan restaurant, the chief attraction is getting here – it’s a lovely walk (less than a kilometer) through paddy fields from Benaulim village. Try biking it if you’re staying in Benaulim – the sea breeze will be full in your face and you’ll arrive suitably primed for the feni and masala prawns.

Taj Exotica Here you’ll find undoubtedly one of the most luxurious and attractive places to stay in Goa, on extensive grounds beside tranquil Benaulim beach. The lobby has gleaming marble floors and spotless white sofas. Its sunken, open-air atrium is full of foliage. Rooms with shady verandahs look out onto two golf courses and the Arabian Sea. You can opt for a villa with an outdoor private pool, or one with a hot tub overlooking the sea.
